It is with great pleasure that I announce a new Educational Development Consultant in the Centre for Teaching and Learning.

Dr. Meagan Troop, PhD, joins our team with extensive experience in educational development and instructional design from positions at the Universities of Guelph, Waterloo, and OCAD, and teaching experience from Wilfrid Laurier and Guelph. With a doctorate in Curriculum Design from Queen’s University, Meagan’s record of achievement is marked by not only innovations in teaching and learning but by the cultivation of meaningful relationships and connections with educators in all levels of higher education. Whether leading a team of collaborators on a research grant that focuses on student perspectives in the design of online learning, or delivering an engaging conference presentation on the role of improvisation as a transformative learning experience across the disciplines, or in her one-on-one consultations with faculty to assist with a specific instructional need, Meagan is regarded consistently by others as warm, enthusiastic, and evidence-based in her approach. This perception is substantiated by a record of research that places emphasis on the significance of creative pedagogies, transformative learning, responsiveness, and inter-cultural experience in learner-focused instructional design.

Because of Meagan’s unflagging commitment to approach her teaching, research, and faculty support from both student and faculty learners’ perspectives, and her passion for her own continuous educational development, I am confident that Meagan will contribute meaningfully to our teaching and learning commitments and communities; and I look forward to you working with her to meet your instructional needs.

Please join me in welcoming Meagan!

Dr. Cherie Werhun, PhD
Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning
